This was Dean standing by one of the Tall Ships, 'Matthew', which are in Bangor this weekend for the maritime festival. The other, 'Jeanie Johnston' has still to arrive
I was travelling from Lurgan back to Belfast but the motorway was crammed with early morning rush-hour traffic so I decided to take 5mins out of it and stopped off at Oxford Island where I took this photo
I went for a drive/walk and brought a picnic with me for lunch. There was still some coffee left in my flask so I stopped to finish it off at this little bay near Portavogie on the way back home
I thought I was being smart taking Martyn to somewhere we hadn't been before for our walk - Hillsborough forest. However when we arrived he recognised it because he had been there before one Easter on a trip with grannies, aunties etc. which I had not been on. Turned out it wasn't a surprise for him after all
This was taken at the top of Divis mountain in the newly set up National Trust area. It looks like the wilderness but in fact it's only a couple of miles to Belfast. Martyn and I headed up and took a picnic with us. On a clear day you can see for miles in every direction. Unfortunately for us it was a scorcher of a day and the resulting heat haze meant that we could see little in any direction, so much for the view. There are several walks to choose from and we had meant to visit before now but now that we've seen it we will definitely be going again in the near future
